| A little more about us, and how we came to be running a
guest house on the Isle of Wight
We came over to the Island in 1980,
after spending many holidays here. Pete was a tug captain on the River
Thames, the work was getting less and less so at last with much
deliberation between us and the children we decided to take the plunge.
Pete however has not forgotten his background and therefore there is a
great deal of memorabilia f-from his past as a Thames Lighterman
throughout Hazelwood.
When we first came over to the Island
we purchased a large semi-detached house in Victoria Avenue, Shanklin
and converted it into a Guest House. Pete then got a job a postman in
Sandown until we got ourselves on our feet.
After five years we decided we
liked the life enough to purchase a much larger property, HAZELWOOD. We
liked the house immediately, so saying we have altered a great deal
inside, but it faces south and has a great sunny aspect and we have
always thought of it as a home. We really enjoy talking to the guests we
have from
all different walks of life and
different countries. We have settled well on the Island and when time
permits we enjoy walking and golf and of course the occasional night
out.
